I'm hoping that title looks interesting enough for people to check out the news. I should have probably wrote "boobies". Much bigger draw I'm sure. Anyway...
Tobias and I have always planned to make Coffee Time Comics bigger by branching out to other artists & writers and getting other comics going on the site. We'd like a partner who wants to do a full on comic within this world, but I have a feeling that we may need to gain a little more popularity to pull that off. For now, we would like to start "Coffee Time Comics Presents..." That's right, we aren't happy with 4 days a week, we want 6.
We need artists & writers, whether you have a webcomic or not, to come aboard our team and help us expand our world. What you will be doing is isolated stories and/or gag strips featuring characters from our comics. Now, these can be main characters or minor characters. It doesn't matter. They can be 1 page or 5 pages. If you have a good idea for something longer, we'll discuss it. If you want to really experiment, feel free. We're pretty open with this.
Now of course, Tobias and I will do these once in a while too, but four pages a week is already pretty tough. We'd really like to see another artist bring their own personality to our characters. If you don't feel comfortable writing, trust me, i have plenty of ideas knocking around my head that don't fit into the current stories at all. Just tell me you want to draw it and I'll get you a script.
Yup, I know, kind of lame to have rules. But I think it's important to have certain continuity within your world.
1. We don't break the 4th wall. The only characters that break the 4th wall are when Tobias and I parody ourselves, but you won't be using those characters.
2. No grandstanding with politics or opinions. That's not to say that you can't weave your ideas into the story. We've never really been a soapbox type comic.
3. No Pop-Culture stuff. The world is drowning in this type of humor and we really don't need more jokes about video games/transformers/sopranoes/paris.
4. Save the R-Rated stuff for Across the Way.
5. In addition to number 4, nothing gratuitous.
I'm sure other things may pop up. I was going to say that characters can't crossover comics unless they already have, but that might make for an interesting comic as long as it isn't done too much.
So that's that. I hope somebody reads this and responds. I'm going to be posting around to a lot of different forums and whatnot to find all the interested people. I really hope this works out because it could be fun.

I really hate the business side of anything. I never want to have to take care of that aspect. But here I am, trying to figure out what our next "move" should be. I don't like having to think of "moves". I just want to write dammit! But that isn't the way things are. Especially not in this century where movies, comics, music, books, and just about everything are D.I.Y. Don't get me wrong, this is a very cool thing, but it's hard for guys like me who don't have money or a business sense to grasp onto this. It's easy for me to spend $10 on Project Wonderful advertising, but once the funds dry up I'm lost.
Tobias and I have brainstormed though and have come up with some ideas that we will hopefully bringing to the site in the coming months. I'm going to bust my balls in the next few weeks catch up big time on my writing duties. I need to just get a ton of shit done in that area before I can attack the things I want to do. They are ideas that will take some man hours, and I just don't want to start on them if I have to take away writing time. The actual output comes first. Sure we always want to gain new readers, but I think for now we'll just have to hope they find us in the usual ways. I don't like to put timelines on things, but I'm hoping by August I'll have completed writing Across the Way, and once that's done it'll have freed up a lot of time. I don't know if anybody has noticed but there are a lot of areas on the site that need updating too. Jesus, I wish I could quit my job sometimes.
Obviously I can't. So me, quit bitching and get to work.

That's a pretty big number right there. If you were to take a walk through your neighborhood counting the amount of people in each home you pass, you'd most likely have to do some serious legwork to reach 3,500 people. It's taken just about 4 years for the occupation of Iraq to reach that amount of dead U.S. soldiers, but the President isn't tired just yet. He's ready to keep walking, and he's going to do it right over American graves. 65,000 more dead Iraqi civilians? Sure, why not. He's a determined man, and when so many people are coming home in body bags, it only makes sense to send in more for a lost "war"...right?
2,973...a number less than 3,500. That number is associated with another tragedy, 9/11, and as that number grows further away from the amount of dead Americans in the Iraq Occupation, so does the reasoning and the connections(well, that bullshit was over a looong time ago).
I don't like to do the political talk too often, but man...3,500. If you could give even a second of silence & thought to each dead soldier, you would end up sitting in silence for a little more than 58 minutes. So if you could at least give a minute a day over the next two months, I'm sure somebody out there would appreciate it. Of course, after the next two months you may have a couple more minutes to give.
Yup, we sure are. I hope you're back too. If you aren't, well, that sucks. Totally.
Thanks for reading.
